AF is a store for a bunch of ..... nevermind..

i personally like banana republic... they always have a few asiansl working the stores... so they can't be racist...

i say we do a protest... i would say roadblock their stores, but since they are usually inside malls.. thats going to be kinda of hard...

I say your wife should go to the manager and report it. I am sure they have a video camera pointing at the cash register area, so it might be on film....

class action suit?

i say fire that bastard....and if you dont' like what AF has done, you should be strong (if you're a frequent buyer) and not buy their products anymore. mass letters are always the best course of action when dealing with large companies. the more they get, the more they'll listen. remember polo? look what happned with that! they listened then, AF will listen this time if the community reacts the same.

Why is it that nobody here gets bent out of shape with remarks that are clearly sexist? The answer seems to be, "Well, the women I know like the fact that I treat them like brainless T&A holders."

I'm completely baffled by this board. Never have I seen more comments objectifying women (and asian women in particular), and so few objections to it. The majority opinion seems to be that asian women are meant to be looked at... forget whether or not she's got a sense of humor, a brain, a heart, or anything else.

Is racism OK just because the object of attack doesn't object? Is sexism acceptable just because the man or woman likes it? Clearly, the answer is no. Just as racism hurts the racist, by encouraging them to believe that their cro-magnon thought processes are correct, sexist attitudes like I've seen here just continue to promote the notion that men have some God-given superior position in all realms of society.

I applaud everyone who speaks out against racism, no matter what the skin-color of the target. However, I wish there was as much angst toward toward the passive-aggressive racism/sexism so prevalent here, where threads about "hot asian women" abound, and most of the men posting such rubbish seem to have all the emotional and intellectual depth of a kiddie pool.

man that's horrible. I'd really like to know if you do get a response from A&F. personally, I've never had any of their stuff, never purchased, but I did wear some jeans that were outgrown by a former roommate of mine. So... that barely counts.

Funny though, even the Tommy Hilfiger clothes - those are annoying mainly because Tommy Hilfiger is quite the racist himself. Anyways... I still dont see why they would release clothes like this. Just bad bad bad.

Yeah, i don't understand how anyone could have given this idea the green light. That's the price you pay for trying to be too trendy.

As for what you should do about the one employee, I say just get them fired. Talk to the manager about what happened. And if they don't fire the person, stand outside their store w/ a sign that says "A racist works here." It'll have more clout if you have other people w/ signs standing there w/ you. That kind of stuff shouldn't be tolerated. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Not much will happen at A&F (or anywhere else, for that matter) if you simply complain here. Not much more will happen if you stop patronizing the store; even if they notice that they've lost your business they'll never know why.

Everyone here who said that they'd stop shopping at A&F should send a letter to the CEO telling him why. Let him know that this happened not to you, but to an acquaintence, and that because of one clerk's stupid remarks to one customer they've lost several customers. Let him know that you intend to discourage others from shopping at A&F unless he changes the company's ways. Then do so.

sealed letters mean so much more than emails. it proves this is really a concern and you'll take your time and 34 cents to send a real letter!
