Well, don't forget, it's a power thing. Assuming that the primary goal of a tribe of males is to intimidate and humiliate another tribe of males (because the winners get the losers females and property), you can't "just ignore" the aggressive tribe. Eventually, the aggressor tribe will win. That's why males don't ask for directions. We all (us males) instinctively know that if we ask another male for directions, morally he can take our female. It's all about humiliation. If you ignore the racism, they'll just step up the pressure.
