Tim, I have been harpooned more times than you could know for complaining about a sexist atmosphere here on S2Ki. When I wasn't been harpooned for it, I was being lampooned for it. Many, many women stay strictly in local forums now when they once ventured out because of the crappy attitude towards women on the board. It's a lot better, but I still get a whiff of "locker room" odor from time to time...

I'm completely baffled by this board. Never have I seen more comments objectifying women (and asian women in particular), and so few objections to it. The majority opinion seems to be that asian women are meant to be looked at... forget whether or not she's got a sense of humor, a brain, a heart, or anything else.

This is pretty much along the lines of what I thought when I read dkhl's response.....

Well, you ARE in Sacramento. Not exactly the most http://www.dictionary.com/search?q=liberal place in the US. LOLOLOL!!!!

Good that you ARE writing a letter though. Most people just let is slide. Don't forget what happened to Denny's when people started complaining. Bad publicity hurts sales.

On the subject of sending letters to get things done, I just finished off two letters, one each to the chairman and president of WorldCom Group. I got postcards from MCI with my unlisted telephone number (complete with area code) prominently displayed on the face. I'm letting these gentlemen know exactly why MCI will be losing my long distance business: I prefer to keep my private numbers private.

It will be interesting to see the response these letters generate. I'll let everyone know.

Never wore abercrombie & fitch, and never will. I never liked that clothing line.

I'm from Sac, I can handle this personally if you could tell me which worker it was.

Remuneration is better than revenge: there are more places you can spend it.

'sek-"si-z&m
Function: noun
Etymology: 1sex + -ism (as in racism)
Date: 1968
1 : prejudice or discrimination based on sex; especially : discrimination against women
2 : behavior, conditions, or attitudes that foster stereotypes of social roles based on sex

I think you need to define what YOUR interpretation of sexism is because it's apparent you have a problem with others who appreciate beauty unless it's under YOUR terms. In your rather pretencious and rambling attempt to demean others by standing on your soapbox and shouting as if you have some divine right to establish parameters for asthetic appreciation, you fall into the category of folks which you seem to despise....those who generalize or make assumptions. I quote "most of the men posting such rubbish seem to have all the emotional and intellectual depth of a kiddie pool." What makes you qualified to assess the intellectual capability of anyone....just because you find jpegs of beautiful asian women apparently distasteful and if it's not the jpegs, what is it...the verbiage? I don't recall reading anything that demeans Asian women in here. I am engaged to a woman who is half Chinese, half Guyanese and I'm as white as snow, so please don't lecture those of us who deal with REAL racism on a daily basis. Those who find particular asian women and ANY woman attractive and post a jpeg in celebration of such beauty aren't attempting to ascertain her personal attributes or quantifying her intellectual abilities...they are simply admiring with the eyes, not the mind. Next time you visit the statue of David (as I have), remind yourself that such sculptures were created BECAUSE of the eyes and not DESPITE them. Women (and men) can be admired for their beauty without having to feel guilty because of it and those who are doing the admiring needn't feel ashamed to find such folks pleasing to the eyes. Derogatory comments or stupid generalizations I certainly do not support but you seem to have a grudge against those who find Asian women particularly attractive based on appearance alone. I'm baffled that you seem to think intellect can somehow be measured with etiquette.
