Do you have a problem with big numbers? What matters is their profit margin. Exxon has a profit margin of about 8.5%. Microsoft has a profit margin of about 27%. Why do you complain about Exxon, but not about Microsoft?
'Cause you can't steal gasoline like you can Windows without going to the Graybar Hotel!!!!

They've been charging air way before this oil crisis.
There is no "oil crisis" other than the fact that the price is high.

More of the same bullshit spouted by the oil companies. What matters is their bottom line profit, not the margin. The company didn't get sigificantly larger, the volume of product sold did not increase significantly, yet Exxon posted the largest quarterly profit in US history.... basically, because of an increase in price. Again -- BULLSHIT.

When I lived in MD, the closest three gas stations all charged $0.25 for air.

You don't HAVE to buy fuel either. Ride a bike, heat and cool your house with geothermal.

and........27% is still conservative for profit margins. Take your typical Cell Phone Accesories Kiosk in any mall. All those bling bling covers and lights and cases cost about 1-5 dollars. Now they charge 10-15-20-30 dollars for some of those upgrades....thats like 1000% profit or more.....

You should see the mark-ups on a lot of import items and electronics.....Please!!!!!!

OK , ok, this is "A" rant. I don't know if it qualifies as "THE" rant.

I could do a better one about why chicks feel the need to shovel down chocolate and put on five pounds a year until the are waddling through state fairs eating deep fried cheese while busting out of size 94 womens jeans. But I don't know if it would be good enough to be "THE" rant either.

I think you are blaming the wrong people here.

It is bad that a company supplies a product at a price sustained by its own market?

They are not setting the price...they are selling their product into a world market.

You have no clue how much it takes to run those HUGE oil companies.

If they made billions of dollars on an 8% margin then the problem is definately not them...its us and the entities we let set our pricing (speculators, OPEC etc)

its wrong for a company to charge what the market will allow for any goods or services??????

Please...... whatever you do....do not ever run a company

Cool

next I am going to hear how we should tax them for making too much profit.

Lets force them to pay money back to the government because they made too much money...that will teach them!!!!

No...it wont.... it will simply force them to pass those taxes on to you, the little guy at the pump.

Sounds like a great, well thought out plan, doesn't it?
