Rap/Hip Hop is in trouble

interesting article. i was amazed/surprised at Master P's turnaround.
I was a hip hop fan for a while, but after a bit it became so repetitive and degrading.
lyrics have become so week that all you would listen to are the beats on commercials.
nice reference to soul & R&B changing to disco (we know where that went)
personally, i am hoping to pick up a lambo or bentley for cheap.
at least a 300C with $50k of big pimpin'.

difficult to determine any parallels between record sales and popularity these days. for example sales of country music might still be mostly cd but other forms may be more downloaded legal or illegal.
i find that i only play .001% of my collection more than once so i agree its repetitive.

All music sales are slumping. I think country has held onto CD sales the best because they have the largest demographic of listeners. Also that demographic is the most diverse of any genre. Whether you know it or not, hip hop CD sales were accumulated by young white kids, which totaled 70 percent of the entire sales. Typically, mainstream genres are followed by a younger generation, those of which have access to downloading and this replace CD sales as we all know.

i don't like that hippity hoppity stuff anyway.
And neither do I like the "hardcore" country music, although the light country stuff is very okay, like Martina McBride and the likes.
