When will the suing frenzy stop...the music industry needs to stop and think.
The music industry is now suing a karaoke bar......
Suing the people listening to your music rather then figuring out how to deal with the problem from your end and now this....come on, when will it stop. I agree that pirated music is illegal and should be stopped, but use your brains instead of your lawyers and this article is just taking things too far. The music industry better WAKE UP! Your making enemies out of your consumers. Tread lightly morons.

Just another thing they're doing, going after 12 year olds, old men, anyone who buys a CD.
I think if you buy the CD, you should be able to do what you want with it. Now if you play "Who let the dogs out" at a stadium, then you have to pay a $10,000 royalty fee everytime. That's BS.

i feel idiotic for even participating in this thread as this topic is SO overdone everywhere right now...BUT.... it's this simple....
evolve or perish. evolution waits for no one, not even the RIAA, no matter how hard they try to hold onto what-was, there is no way to prevent the realization of what-is and what-will-be.
Simple put, they must embrace a dynamic and changing market and economic climate in order to remain at the crest of the wave they so desperately seek to control. For some reason it seems to escape them that unless they go along with the program they will ultimately lose control altogether.

So you guys don't think that suing a 12 year old honor student who lives in public housing is a good idea for the RIAA? Her poor mother had to spend $2000 to settle with those greedy bastards. This kind of crap is going to prevent me from buying any CD's in the near future. I usually buy the CD's instead of downloading them, but I refuse to use my money to support the RIAA.
I think that if you break the law, you deserve just punishment. If you worked hard to make a product, would you want someone stealing it and giving it away for free? I don't think so. No matter who you are, if you break the law then you break the law...no matter if you are 10, 30, 60, 100 years old.
Do I think that the industry needs to evolve to encompass this evolving technology? Yes definately. Do I think it is right for you to steal things because the technology allows you to do so? No. I think they are off to a good start with iTunes from mac...I believe they had over 100 million songs sold the first month.

iTunes has been out for five months now and just sold their 10 millionth song. Your estimate of 100 million in a month is way too high. There is no way they will ever sell that much unless they make it available for windows users. It is only available for Mac OS X users in the US, so it's still a very small market compared to the total number of computer users in the world.
