Default Rate your current ISP

I (and maybe some of you) were just notified that Gateway is getting out of the ISP market. This means that by Dec. I (we) will need to find and sign up a new internet service provider. My question to you is. Who do you use, and how do you rate their service?

I think a lot of us on-line use braodband connections. I hav a cable modem from Time Warner. The service is called roadrunner and I've had very few problems from them. On the other hand, my business partner has DSL from PacBell and it totally SUCKS. It takes 30 mins. for him to receive or send e-mail, and it seems to go down a lot more often than my service.

I've got DSL from Alltel. No problems from them... but I also pay $10 a month to EV1.net... mainly for the 300 MB webspace and a backup dial up connection.

The problem with home-type broadband around the world is ... It's pretty new and there are not enough experienced or trained professionals in the field to deal with such upcoming issues and problems that don't reoccur, it's a complete different networking protocol compared to dial-up types.

However, that does not mean I'm not gonna diss is anyhow. Telstra ADSL Australia - http://www.telstra.com.au/ Good fast speed of up to 450kbps on mine, efficient downloads with not much of an issue but maintenance and server problems are a common thing. This month alone, it has already gone offline 4 times and counting.

AT&T cable works great for me. I get the internet plus extended basic cable (incl. Showtime, TMC and HBO for $42.00/mo. It's fast as lightning, and I've had very few problems with the system in the nearly three years I've been with them.

That's a damn good price. For just my cable modem alone, I pay over $42.00.
