Default Real Estate Appraisal?

I'm currently in the Navy and I'm about to finish up my contract in about 5 more months. I'm interested in doing real estate appraisal. My question is which school should I go to since I'll be going back to Southern California when I get out? I was looking at Allied schools for real estate appraisal, has anyone or does anyone recommend a better school for this? Thanks in advance.

You would probably need to post this in the California section if that is where you are going to live.

Here in PA i think all you need to do is take some relatively minor classes....like 2-3 classes from the local real estate continuing eduction center... then pass a test..... (very similar to getting real estate license).... that gets you in the door to work for an appraiser.... then after time (like 2-3 years) you can apply to get your own appraisers license....

is that what CA is like? Now is maybe not the time to hop in as appraiser if the real estate market is heading down? I know the local appraisers are not nearly as busy as they were 2 years ago.

It's that same here.....not as easy as some would think...takes awhile to go out on your own
