Default Remnant Fellowship

All,
I "lost" my wife to Remnant Fellowship.
Do you know anyone lost to RF? Please share your story here. I'm trying to see just how big this bull-shit cult is.

For those of you who do not know, Remnant Fellowship is a cult based out of Tennessee. The faithful proclaim all other churches as "counterfeit" and believe that overweight people are doomed to hell. A whole bunch more drivel...
More testimony can be found on the Internet.

I freakin' hate religions.

So, if you know anyone else who was taken in by this Remnant Fellowship, or is currently attending Weigh Down Workshop (RF recruiting base), post here.

Be safe.

I'm not anti-religion. I was raised Catholic and have a healthy respect for decent living. Religion is the most devisive element in social control. Period.
My wife is still with me, but her mind is gone. She's 100% RF. She travels to TN at least twice a year and is commanded to take our daughter. So instead of family vacations, her time and money goes to RF. It used to be worse. She used to be gone on almost all family holidays. Last year, when they were gone over Thanksgiving, I put my foot down. You all may wonder if I'm taking care of business at home and what could possibly drive her to RF. She wasn't driven to RF by anything I did. It all started with our local Lutheran Church offering a "Weigh Down Workshop" class.
After loosing wieght in the WDW class, the leadership tells the graduates that it is because of them that they were able to change their lives. The next step is to proclaim their own church as counterfeit and join RF. Then the hook is driven deeper once the women become baptised at Gwen's mansion in TN. From then on, they are to put RF first... even if it means separating themselves from non-RF family members.
Be aware of cults preying on the seekers.

As a "part-time" Lutheran, I find this BEYOND strange. Then again, I'm also a Lutheran in CA, so we tend to not only

a: be very tolerant and cooperative with established churches and faiths (heck, we party with the Buddhists every now and then).

b: are similiarly protective of the flock (read: all people) from real cults that isolate and separate people from their loved ones and separate and divide communities.

This is truly disturbing. I find myself usually very aware of cults, and have not heard of this one. I am IMMENSLEY disturbed that they have the audacity to recruit Lutherans and moreover, that any Lutheran of any stripe would fall for it (then again, did your wife go to the Lutheran church, or just the weigh-down?).

Please keep us (or at least me) posted. This is freakin' my out.

We were attending our local Lutheran Church. Our daughter was baptised Lutheran. I don't know if our previous church is still offering WDW. I'd rather doubt it. Most churches dropped WDW once they realized the deceit.
If you are curious, and have time, you can look up "Remnant Fellowship" on the web and see more testimonials of former RF people and interesting articles about cults.

I'm sorry to hear this.

I'd try desperately to keep your daughter away from them.

I'm already looking at their own website right now. . . in typical fashion, everything initially checks out as, "Mmm, well, Ok, I'm with you so far. . . " but, I have already been noticing recurring themes, and "selective capitlization."

I'll get to the other testamonials soon.

http://www.geocities.com/heather_pat.../testimony.htm

The link goes to a well put together write-up of one woman's experience.
My wife is totally dedicated and is all skin and bones now. Can't gain weight or else you are partying with satan.

. . . ignore the fact that your body is a temple of God. . . you still have the right to keep the temple of God's concrete and rebar reasonably stable.

I read their website pretty thoroughly. I have many things to say, but do not feel that S2Ki.com (even in Off-Topic) is the proper forum to go into immense depth.

In a nutshell though, this is what I initally see:
They use The Law as a means to reinforce (the otherwise fine) concept of obedience. They take obedience to an extreme extreme end, so as to make sure that you are obeying The Law in accordance with how The Fellowship interprets it. Which, as religions go, is ok (not my cup of tea) but they do not make their teachings fully known. . .

. . . I mean, if you have nothing to hide, and are teaching and preaching the true Word of God, then why have a member log-in?

you struck the heart of the church. Obedience.

Not willing to discuss theology here on S2KI either.
Just want to shout out a warning and read about anyone else's brush with this truly devisive cult.
