I am very knowledgeable on this subject as I am a Dental Hygienist. I would also recommend an oral surgeon as they are a specialist to make the procedure as pleasant as possible. It depends on YOUR individual teeth whether or not you need local anesthesia or general. Talk to the surgeon and he will know what is best for you. You wouldn't get your gears installed at a muffler shop so go to an oral surgeon definately! The entire idea of getting dental advice from S2000 owners is very comical to me. The oral surgeon that you choose will answer all of your questions and make you feel very comfortable. Expect to take an expensive panoramic radiogragh that shows the position of your third molars for easy extraction. Good luck! As a side note I had all of mine taken out at the same time in the Navy by a general "Navy" dentist with local anesthesia(shot). All of mine were impacted and I went back to work right after the procedure with strong tylenol. Expect dull soreness and some swelling after ( a.k.a. chipmunk cheeks )

do all 4, and go under. you get a needle, you go under, you wake up, you're having a grea time, you go home, have some yogurt.

I was eating cheeseburgers the next day and never got sick from the drugs. I've had much worse surgeries

I had 2 of mine removed a while ago with local anesthesia only. Didn't feel anything at the moment, but recovery is a pain.

if all four of yours have to be sawed into fourths and then chissled out then you will want the general and the good pain killers.

Your experience will depend on how they need to remove them. The more cutting and chisseling the worse the recovery.

Here is another subject... my dental insurance wound up covering a small part... since it was out patient surgery my health insurance picked up the rest.

I had all 4 out at the same time under a general by an oral surgeon ..... very easy procedure, took 3-4 days before I could eat solids again though .....

I also had one of my molars taken out under local by a dentist and I can say that it was the most unpleasant experience of my life and because of the poor work that he did I had to go to see another dentist twice to get it sorted out !!!!

I must have been unusual. I only had 2 wisdom teeth to begin with (uppers only), and they came in perfectly straight. However, eventually they started running into my lower gums when I chewed, so they had to come out. On the day of the sugery, I was in and out of the office in literally 15 minutes. Obviously, anasthesia was local only. I never even needed Tylenol. Eating goo for the next few days kinda sucked though.
