Default Replying to a Craigslist topic.

Well theres a bike i want to possibly buy on Craigslist. When i hit the link next to "Reply To:" It opens up my generic email which i don't use. So i figured i could just copy this..."sale-287746658@craigslist.org" into my hotmail and send a message to the seller through my hotmail email account. I get a message that comes back that says i have the incorrect email adress.

Just to see if it was that ad, i tried replying to a different ad and i got the same problem. Do I have to sign up for Craigslist or am i doing something wrong? None of my friends have ever used it so I'm out of gas. Thanks for any help.

i put an ad on craigslist and when the people hit reply and it comes up with that funny email, it automatically routs itself to my real email address....

not sure what you are doing wrong. I don't think you have to join anything...there really isn't any way to join i don't think.

try again.

I copy the email into hotmail all the time. When you send it, you should get an error, and it will send you back to the original email. You will see in the address bar, it says something like "sale-287746658@craigslist.org <sale-287746658@craigslist.org>" with two copies of the email. delete the one in the <>, resend, and it should work fine.

That should've worked.

That has worked for me in the past many times without a problem.

Yeah, that's how I respond to those ads. Are you leaving extra spaces in there somewhere? At the beginning of the address, maybe?

I tried two things today, copying and pasting the address and responding to my original ad, and neither of them have come in to my account yet... When were you having these issues?
