You seem to not grasp the economy of this world. I live in NY. Let's say I do what you say, and take the bus all the time (I use public transportation a LOT)...the bus runs on what? Oh, thats right, gas. The buses are all owned by the MTA....who pays for the MTA? Oh yea, I do. I pay for the gas in that bus. When I order something online, and want it shipped to my house, it usually arrives in a truck of somesort, as my runway is being repaired. That truck uses...ummm....gas...which I pay for when I pay for shipping. I could drive a Prius with one spark plug so the car uses almost no gas, but I still need to buy gas right? I have no choice. We have no choice. Simple economic rule....you can ONLY get away with rape if the item is a necessity and cannot be substituted. Gas would be 10 cents a gallon if people could avoid using it. The fact of the matter is, no matter how you tried, you cannot stop using gas, even if you arent the one actually buying it....you are still paying for it.

(Take a flight recently? How did you like the $200+ fuel tax?...try to argue next time with them about it, and see if you can "avoid" it.)
I didn't say you can complete eschew using gasoline. What I'm saying is we (as a nation) can easily cut 20% off of our consumption.
If you are so bothered by gas price, do what I do, ride a bike to work. Gas consumption for that, ZERO. Ride the bus; the bus is already running, taking one more passenger (you) requires about 0.1% more gas.
You'll still need to use petroleum products, just use less of it - that's what I'm saying.

Well, yes, you could do that, but that's a subtle way of bring gas prices down. My way is "instant". Sure, oils are found on their lands, but oils are produced by the earth, and since we rule the earth, we should be firstly entitled to it.

[QUOTE=S2020,May 21 2007, 02:23 PM] Also, I don't know how "instant" your way is.

Stop wasting time in Iraq! Let's just invade the whole M/E and own their oils. Who's to stop us? WHO?
How about lets say, the rest of the world?

This would probably start WWIII. then ur oil will be rationed and prices will even skyrocket.

and also, it isnt just americans paying for this gas, but everyone else as well. Think about Japan and Europe's amazingly high price.

Nah, the rest of the world won't be against us, they'll be our allies. Even if we had to fight the rest of the world, it'd be worth it, man. It'd be worth fighting for a chance to pay pennies for a gallon of gas. I don't care what other nations are paying high prices, we, as Americans, are NATURALLY entitled to the cheapest prices of everything available. C'mon, man, Americans always jump head first into every international crisis to lead the rest of the world. We deserve cheap prices, man!

No, but we deserve not having 10% of our economy in their hands, which was obtained by ripping off the people or this country.
