Dude with STi meets girl, wants to buy house, marry.
Needs "family and work" friendly car (LOL STi not family friendly??)
trades with other dude on forum for Jeep SRT-8 (This is fam friendlier?)
Jeep is a piece of shit (its a new mopar, go figure)
Stuff get stolen, so he gets an alarm
VIN programmed key @ Dealer when they find out its a fake VIN.

Stolen car gets taken back by insurance company, he finds out he's been played; guy who sold it to him knew it was a stolen car and still sold/traded it.

Elsewhere on the forum, previously:
Dude makes post about "buying a STi" while he's still 19, straight up with no loans, no family help, etc etc etc.

TL;DR
Guy trades STi for SRT-8
SRT-8 was stolen, VIN Changed.

idk 19 yr punk kid would deff be wrapped up in a body bag if that happen to me... good luck you gonna need a lawyer and getting any money from a 19yr old isnt going to happen sad to see! but people really need take cars to a dealership have full inspection before purchase, i see this all the time... my good friend did'nt want spend extra to have car looked over(about 8 yrs ago) got a "clean" integra type r, then comes out someone swap dash vin, frame one was covered with some jdm fake sticker crap, decided he would get oil changed on long trip, instead got arrested having a stolen car, got dropped down to recieving stolen property, and his job fired him, had sell house to cover lawyer and court fees.. just this yr he was able to by another house. person who sold him car was never charged cops said wasnt enough proof...

That's why you make sure the VIN# on the title matches the VIN# on the car

I don't know, if a 19 yr old punk did this to me he'd definitely be wrapped up in a body bag. Good luck, you're going to need a lawyer and getting money from this kid isn't going to be likely. These situations are sad to see, but people really need to take cars to the dealership and have them inspected prior to purchase. A good friend of mine didn't want to spend the extra money on such an inspection on an Integra Type R he bought. While on a long trip, he decided to get an oil change and got arrested for having a stolen car! Apparently the VINs were swapped The charges were dropped to receiving stolen property, but he got fired from his job and had to sell his home to cover legal fees. This happened about 8 yrs ago and he was just able to buy another home this year!! The person who sold him the car was never charged; the police claim that it wasn't enough proof.

Dont let anybody you know buy this car or trade for it. I hope this thief gets f@#ked so hard in jail he bleeds out of his ass for the rest of his life.
This should happen to every thief. I have a buddy on that forum. I give him a heads up.

I like how one dude near the end was like "The VIN was ALTERED not STOLEN," uh... the VIN shouldn't be changed in ANY way shape or form? LOL.
