"ripping off the gov't" - landlords / contractors
just checked the wiki and found this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_8_(housing)
it sounds like the landlord takes on a lot more risk than usual for section 8 tenants.

i admit that there are a lot of people scamming when it comes to contruction. a lot has to do with politics. like a mayor or some governing body rewarding big contracts to their brothers or cousins. or paying off an inspector to let you pass even though your buidling is not up to code. but thats just the way it is, there really is nothing you can do. if you can't beat them, join them. you'll find life is much easier that way.

Scot, I usually agree with you, but not this time. The white collar often get hosed by the government. Actually, it's VERY common. I've been beaten with a stick by them for quite some time. So, if I can get my tax money back one way or another, I will.
If you don't, someone else will. Yes, it's a little primitive, but its the truth. I would do whatever it took LEGALLY to save/get more money if I can.
You always bitched about your tenants destroying your property, someone has to pay for it right?

^ I can't see me recooping some losses on bad tenants by tricking the system and overbilling for lead removal or even just way overcharging the rent. just not my thing.... to each their own I guess....

It may be the truth, but it doesn't make it right. A scam is a scam is a scam - whether it's committed by someone who's poor or who's middle/upper class.

^ the whole point of my thread was that everyone bitches about the poor ripping off the system.... the poor should work, all they do is sit around and collect welfare, etc.....
You rarely hear anyone say.... hey... look at the contractors rip off the sytem multiple times more on one job than 5 welfare families.....
it seems like it is accepted to rip it off if you are a contractor but you are the scum of the earth if you do it through welfare.
I personally think both suck...
