You know, sometimes things just don't go according to plan. I had to have a couple of fairly minor surgical procedures done and the only time that I could schedule them was a couple of weeks ago. Because of the timing I knew I had to cancel my reservations in Asheville. That sucked because I really wanted to go but oh well, there's always next year.

What I didn't expect was for this to turn out to be as big a pain in the ass as it has. One of the procedures was to remove a cyst near the base of my spine. I'm sure you can guess the easiest route to get to that. I figured that within a few days I'd be able to sit down, play on the computer, drive a little, etc. Not so! A pretty hefty infection set in along with a high fever. I'm still fighting the infection and STILL can't sit down. I'm typing this standing up. I have two choices, I can stand up for short periods of time or I can lie on my stomach. What I really want to do is go out and drive my car, and I hate having to miss tomorrow's autocross.

In the overall scheme of things this is no big deal. It's not going to kill me and the doctor thinks I'll be able to sit in the next week to ten days. Don't read this as a complaint because I really have nothing to complain about. I am going a little stir crazy not being able to do anything though. I'm trying to look at this as forced rest and who couldn't use a little more rest?

Sorry to hear about your troubles. You don't know stir crazy though. Try having knee surgery and no walking for ten weeks, that is stir crazy.

You might consider getting a "hemorrhoid donut", a small innertube-looking device, that will, in effect, suspend the painful area. Such a device is probably available at your local pharmacy.

The glazed "hemoroid donut" is much better than the powdered sugar
