LCD TV, like any LCD monitor, does not have burn-in problem. Plasma and projection TV's do because their back light runs very hot. I think even DLP has this problem to some degree. For gaming, LCD probably works best.

I have been playing games on my 32" Sharp Aquos for 6 months. The one weakness in LCD is that the "black" is not rich enough and appears as dark gray.

I am not much of an electronic junky. I learned those stuff from the avsforum when I was picking a TV myself 6 months ago.

I my sammy dlp. I'm not a serious gamer by any means. i play GT4, GTA series and the Tony Hawk series and have not noticed any latency. Then again, I never really looked for it either.

My television serves 3 purposes. Viewing movies, playing PS2, and being the monitor for my HTPC. My sammy does all three amazingly.

We have Cablevision's HD set-top box connected to a DVI switcher where it switches between the HTPC and the box. Then it goes into the TV via DVI. PS2 and DVD player are connected directly to the tv via component cables. Audio for all 4 are all via optical to my 6.1 receiver. If a built in tuner would have been offered, I wouldve definitely have jumped on this. Then I'd be able to connect my DVD player via DVI to the switcher to replace the set-top box.

We have a 15" LCD in the kitchen and I'm so impressed with this unit, that I'm looking for a larger unit to replace our 36" Wega in the bedroom.

No. The one I'm looking at is the XS955 model and the XBR version. According to avsforum.com, both share the same picture tube, the XBR offers i.LINK and PiP which are both useless to me and costs $700 more.

CRT is probably the best all-around monitor technology. Like anything else, when you go to extremes, such as size, there are trade-offs. LCD's have suffered from a slower refresh than other technologies, although I am sure it realistically is not much different than CRT at this point as far as that goes. Plasma is nice and all, but again, not "perfect," but better than some other options when it comes to sheer size. IMHO, if you are spending the extra dough to go HDTV, why not get the best technology, especially when you can get it cheaper than the inferior alternatives, unless max screen real estate is your goal?

Well I went to Best Buy last night to take a look at that SONY 34" Widescreen CRT with my fiancee and we left with a SONY 42" Rear Projection LCD HDTV and SONY matching stand.

It was kinda of an impulse buy as we got a really good deal on the 42" that we couldn't say no to. From what I've read here and on avsforum.com, rear projection LCD's are fine for gaming correct? No chance of burn-in? What are some of the disadvantages of rear projection LCD's? What should I look out for?
