Default School Me On Digital Camcorders

Hi all, I'm looking to buy a digital camcorder that I can use with Final Cut Pro.

What are the pros/cons with buying a dvd camcorder vs a minidv camcorder?

What brand or specific model that's out on the market today do you reccomend? I'm looking for something in the $500 and under range. Thanks!

I was looking at the Canon zr85 or zr90. Do you know anything about these?

Your best bet is to go to London Drugs near you. They employ very knowledgeable staff in their camera dept. Tell them what you want to do with the camera and they'll tell you what they have that will fulfill those requirements. There, at least, you can see the camera up close, along with the price and make a better final judgement for yourself. Their prices aren't so bad, either.
Garner what you can from this thread and take this information with you, too.
