Is there a poison out there that ants take back to the colony and share as food? I want to kill them at the source.

Drop by your local Home Depot or Orchard Supply.

They sell these small ant baits that you are supposed to leave on ant trails. The little buggers take the bait back to the nest and they all go bye, bye.

At Home Depot they have several brands (I like the Ortho one) for ants. Sprinkle on the nest and in 24 hrs. they are gone. Queen is dead. This is for fire ants. Don't know if you have those in CA.

good luck on those ants!!!!

Those fire ants suck BIGTIME, aspecially when I was in Keesler AFB in training...I remember one time we were standing in formation on the parade grounds and a fire ant colony just erupted in the middle of our flight...Talk about "military bearing" heheh...Imagine a DI saying "WHERE'S YOUR MILITARY BEARING SON???" and the poor sap saying " BITING THE F*** OUTTA MY LEGS SIR!"

ANDRO is about the best of the baits. If it doesn't work use some Orthen Powder. It stinks but will kill them overnight. Just shake it aroung the mound hole. When they walk through it they take it directly in to the nest. AMORT, FIN, THAT's ALL FOLKS, LIGHTS OUT for the whole colony.

Andro? I'll try that, but where do you get that? Isn't that the name of a steroid too?

are these ants going inside your residence? if so the reason why is because of the weather, no really i just read it in pop sci, the argentinian ants cant stand the dry heat so when its above 80F and its dry they will try to find some relief and will get into your house.
