I'm glad Texas is a one-party state... meaning that as long as one party knows they're being recorded, it's admissable evidence. That's why a carry a micro-cassette recorder in my car.

I lived just outside of Boston for about 5 years. I was initially surprised that a state with such a liberal voting record affords such leeway (and protection) to their public safety officials. After living there several years, these types of things no longer surprised me, but I never understood any of it either. Officers involved in shootings would not be identified to the media for days. Officers were earning more on traffic details than they were on the job. Officers in one small town blatantly profiled a black federal agent, then had their chief and the city council take up for their officers, essentially calling the federal agent a liar. The town I lived in actually hired a 19 year old officer - this is usually considered a bit young for the job. The fact that the SJC allowed the officers to shield their conduct behind this law is not surprising.
