Default selling cars to scrap yard

Hey guys and girls I was wondering if anyone has any experience selling cars to a scrap yard. Theres one up the street from me and I have sold some old metal I had laying around and they had a sign that said 1300 for any cars. I asked the guy and he told me the same, any car you can tow, drive, pull, or drag in you get 1300 for.

An idea popped into my head. A neighbor has a car hes selling up the street for 400 bucks. Its a old pos camery that the motors blown and the windshield broken. So i figured it would be a good idea to make some extra money. I have a car that can tow all I need to do is rent a tow dolly from uhall. Anyway I am wondering what is legally needed to sell the car to the scrap yard. The neighbor has the title to the car and if I bought it we fill out a bill of sale and he gives me the title.

Now heres my problem, The guy at the scrap yard said that you need the registration to sell the car to them. I asked if that was the same as the title and he didnt know, he said he was new. Does anyone know if you need the registration, because wouldnt the registration be in the old owners name unless you pay the fee to have it transfered to my name? Any incite is welcome!! thanks guys!!

seems like the title would count as the registration... $1300 is pretty high for a scrap car.... even when steel was crazy high 2-3 years ago i don't remember anyone offering that kind of $.... Steel is about 2/3 the price it was in 2008.... around here you need to remove the gas tank plus have the registration/title...
