Default Process for shipping cars?

If I sell my car and willing to ship it to another state within the US, and the buyer covers the shipping, is it a major hastle? How does this work? And does that mean I dont have to get a smog check obviously considering the car would be going to Maine for example? I heard I need to smog my car within 90 days of sale, but thats here in CA.

The buyer would do all the work. All you need to do is meet up with the shipper to put the car on the truck

I dont know why that would relate to you. Smog laws in maine have nothing to do with someone whos selling a car out of California. Its up to the buyer to deal with any local emissions laws

the buyer probably wants you to fed ex him the title after you get the $ i assume.... (don't fall for that Nigerian guy who pays too much for cars then asks you to refund the difference to the trucking company... .... you lose your car and some cash too.... )

anyway.... meet the truck at kmart or wherever... the truck driver will look over the car and hand you a carbon copy of an inspection paper....you are done.... if you are nice you can email the buyer and tell him the car is on it's way... if you are really nice you'll take pictures of the car on the carrier....

ok thanks. He told me he would pay the shipping company beforehand, then they come pick it up at my house. Easy enough I guess?

^ as long as you are getting paid via wire transfer or you are able to call his bank to confirm the check number and account of the certified check and the check clears the bank and is in your account........... any more the world is full of fake certified checks.....

don't accept just a plain old "bank check" either because they can be stopped..... (i actually stopped one when I found out the nsx i was buying had the top welded on...doh)....
