what are you selling, and what is your rating. demand for an item is also a factor.

rating is a big thing for me, if the seller has a low rating or any negatives, i don't even bother bidding.

same here. i never make a bid if the seller seems fishy. but the second most important factore is the price. it doesn't matter if you have 100% positive feedback. if the price is too high, it'll never sell. maybe somebody will make a bid, but they will most likely not pay up.

I agree with everyone else, we'd really need to see the item.

More often than not, I sell my items with no reserve and a $0.01 starting bid. This generates interest and a number of bidders early on, which then attracts people that want to look at the item. When looking through listings, I think a lot of people look at listings wiht a number of bids just to see what its all about. Of course, I only do this with items that I know will sell well - like electronics.

Yep, for me, if the seller looks legit, the next thing is price. If I search online and find the same item new for not much more than your starting bid, I won't bid.

If it's something that requires good pics, like a watch, then the quality of the pics matters. There's a guy who sells a lot of watches on ebay, but his pics are always dark and badly focused, which put me off.

I know someone who bought a watch from him recently, and had to spend $250 to replace the strap, because the strap was in horrible condition. It would have shown up if the pics were better.

I am surprised an Internet like you is not well versed on eBay

Are you selling a high price item? It is very difficult for potential buyers to risk a large sum of money to buy from someone with little or no feedback

Yes, good pic is VERY IMPORTANT, but I don't think Ev is handicapped in this area...

... unless he posts each different picture in different auctions for the same item.

I place key search words in the body of the description so that more searches find my item. Use commonly searched for words and phrases like "double penetration," "Teen Orgy," and "Hot sexy co-eds gobble man mustard"

J/K, I really don't do that. It does help to use related key words in the body of the description so that more searches target it. Also, take good pictures and don't rip anybody off on shipping. Make sure your stuff is priced to compete with similar products that are for sale. Start by searching what other people are selling at. There's one guy right now that's been trying to sell the same $99 CF cooling plate with a $40 shipping charge. Of course, nobody is buying it b/c there are 10 more out there that are cheaper with less shipping. His isn't even a brand name.
