There are only three things that you need to sell successfully on ebay, and I have a little bit of experience with it .
1) Your Feedback
2) A good Picture
3) PRICE! (THEY most important, if its not a deal, why would you buy it on ebay and wait to receive it?)

A good description is also important, just state exactly what it is that you are selling, the condition, everything it comes with, how much shipping is, insurance, etc, there is no need to BS the sale, and make sure you use proper english and grammer(unlike this post of mine ) because I for one will not buy from a seller that spells and structures his sentences like he is mentally retarded. Let the bidding begin!

I place key search words in the body of the description so that more searches find my item. Use commonly searched for words and phrases like "double penetration," "Teen Orgy," and "Hot sexy co-eds gobble man mustard"
That is how I get all of my hits on ebay too.

You'll have to buy some stuff to get a rating before anyone will deal with you. There's always Craigs list though.

Wantone,

You have got to establish a rating - even just getting a good rep as a buyer will go worlds towards people being able to trust you.

Buy a bunch of cheap stuff you don't need - pay as soon as the auction ends - and get your rating up before trying to sell.

Also, when placing a listing for sale, mention that you'll email a tracking number with a day of sale will help with you get your price.

Why buy a bunch of crap in order to get rid of other crap???

Try Google Base - http://base.google.com/

Not sure what you're selling, but maybe people just don't want it. What do you think you'll really get for it? What is it costing you to keep around? Will it just be easier to give it to Goodwill?

I have a feedback rating of like 76 or something with 100% feedback, and these days, I never have a problem selling on Ebay. Here's what I do. #1, I take a bunch of pictures. A BUNCH. Then I pick the best ones, scale them all down to the same resolution, and save them as .jpg's so they don't take forever to load. I create my own description--using Frontpage (or using Turbolister, free program you can download from Ebay). I upload my pics to my web hosting service so I don't have to pay Ebay to host them.

LASTLY: I post a picture of my goofy face at the bottom of the auction, asking buyers to email me with any questions. It felt stupid at first but it works. Putting your mug in the auction tends to make people to trust you more. Especially important when you have low/no feedback.

Good luck!

I have been buying shit on ebay sincd 1997 and have had only 3 bad small problems out of about a 900 purchases and 100 sales.

I sold a Lebron James card on ebay for $1400 but the buyer never sent me $. by the time i figured out he was a flake the card had dropped down to $750

I was high bidder on a car but when i got there to pick it up, it was nothing close to as nice as they described and had various vin #'s on the engine/ chassis and body parts.... i just didn't buy it.

only other problem was a horrible condition ATV handlebar cover for $12.00 or so.... i sent it back and left negative feedback but never got my $ back.

I love ebay. I have 425 feedback with 2 negatives (both left by dicks after i left them negatives for 2 of the dicks listed above..).

Everyone above has mentioned what ebay buyers look for. I would never buy something huge from a (0) feedback person unless i was meeting them in person to buy it (like my mustang cobra that i am currently driving...bought on ebay from a (0) feedback seller).
