September 11TH
It was a block schedule day at school and I had just gotten finished with English and my friend Donald told me that some plane hit the WTC. We were thinking that it was some single-engined Cessna, but when we got to homeroom, we jury-rigged the TV antenna with a paperclip to get it to pick up the news and saw the smoke coming out of both towers. When I moved to my next class, we did the same thing and we saw the smoke coming out of the pentagon. As soon as class started, the teacher turned off the tv and actually started giving notes. We had no idea what was going on, and then a few minutes later a teacher poked her head in the door and told us that both towers had collapsed. I spent my entire 2 hours of lunch in the library watching the news that day. It is so weird how vividly I remember that day.
I know this sounds weird, but I have never felt alive more than I did on 9/11 and the following weeks. Everyday I woke up happy to be alive and living in this great country. I hate to say it, but I have started to take everything for granted again.

I got a phone call (at home in Anchorage) telling me that my friend, fellow Marine, and fellow pilot had been extruded through the World Trade Center.
I'll never forget:
Jason Dahl
Michael Horracks
Vic Sarrichi
Leroy Homer
Man I miss those guys

I woke up to a call from my mom who told me to sit down as she told me what was going on (she was trying very hard not to be hysterical).... and it didn't really sink in what she was telling me til I turned on the TV after we hung up. OUCH -- the emotional pain that moment was....
For some reason I still went to work ???? and the horrible part there was my boss had just come in after me and apparently he wasn't aware of what had happened -- all of us coworkers were telling him what was happening i.e. the towers just COLLAPSED. The look in his eyes -- pure fear w/ tears immediately welling up. Another OUCH.
Now... what really gets me, is my fascination with that day. Even though it's probably a normal human feeling, I really hate being fascinated with the sheer overwhelmingness of 9/11. I even rented the 9/11 documentary DVD recently so that I could remind myself of all the horror.

I remember getting up around 7 am MST, as is normal for me, and turning on my TV while I did my morning routine, and was halfway through getting dressed when my mind clicked over and I actually paid attention to the TV. I sat in my room, didn't eat or anything, switched over to CNN and didn't go to school that day. I watched everything... I got an email that night from one of my buddies from the anime forum I'm on who lives in NY saying that he and his family were okay, which was a nice relief on a shocking day
It was lunch time in Portugal and I was having lunch with my wyfe and some friends. The TV was on.....and suddenly some images from the 1st crash........
It was terrible, one of my friends just throw out when we saw (live) the 2nd crash.
A couple friends were at NY that day. It was impossible to connect them and only 32h later we knew that they were ok and that they visited the WTC the day before. Few days later they arrived at Lisbon and they told and showed us lots of things concerning that calamity........they just lived it.

It was 3 in the afternoon here in Germany. I turned on the TV and had the news channel right away. The first thing I saw that day was the first plane crash in the tower. I couldn't believe it and I can remember yelling for my Mum. She came running in and I told her what had just happened. We both sat there for a very long time unable to say anything. Then I just started crying.
We can only hope that nothing like that EVER happens again! And if something terrible happened I would wish that there were as many brave people there to help, as there were on 9/11.
They shall all R.I.P

I was at a clients office doing some work. I just happened to be walking down the hall past their breakroom and caught the sight of first plane hitting the Towers. I thought something was wrong right away...I mean even if air traffic control had lead the plane awry, it was a bright sunny day and pilots do have eyes right. I worked for few hours and didn't hear about the rest until I was driving back to my office. Writing this, it seems like yesterday.
