I was up checking the pre-market stocks when a curious news entry showed up on the futures report stating stock futures were down slightly due to a reported plane crash into the WTC.

As I was thinking WTF? I thought it was a small plane like a Cessna. My wife called me from the next room and I walked in to see one of the towers smoking on TV. We were discussing the possibilities of such an accident since the size of the hole in the building was so big it could not be a light plane. I could simply not believe something like a commercial airliner could possibly hit a building nowadays (especially dead-on). As I was discussing this, I saw a flash on the screen and the second plane hit.

"$hit" I thought to myself, "today is going to be a very interesting day". The traffic during rush hour was nonexistent, and the radio was full of confused reporters talking about "smoke" spotted here and there in Wash. DC and that all the airliners were being grounded. I arrived at work to see the live video of the two towers falling and the destruction at the Pentagon.

Wow this is bringing back some memories. Like Rworne, I was waking up to check the stocks. It was my late day to school, and I had slept exceptionally late. My roommate, who worked from home, yelled at me to check out the news. Before I could change the channel, CNBC began to show footage of the WTC.

I was watching in amazement as the single tower smoked. I couldn't believe my eyes when I watched the second tower penetrated. I realized that my class had begun about 20 mins ago.

I called my work, which is located on a military installation, and they were beginning to vacate the base. I sat at home the rest of the day and watched video footage of New York, Washington DC, and Arlington, Va.

The thing I remember most was that night. We went outside and listened to how quiet it was. Nobody was on the streets, but that was not the strange part. To look in the sky and not see a single airplane. It was quite strange.

The next 3 days we were barred from the base. I had to do my work from home, which meant I watched and listened to a lot of TV. I saw images and heard testimonials of things I hope never happen again.

It really is a day I will never forget!

I was at work and we were trying to keep school going as best we could. Our kids didn't fully realize what was happening (middle school on the West coast), but the staff sure did. I think they got a better understanding when we tried to explain that the number of American's lost that day was about the same amount that lived in their entire town. They were a little more quiet after they realized that.

I was in bed when my folks called (from Boston) and told me to turn on the T.V. I turned it on after the 1st plane hit and was just sort of sitting there watching when all of a sudden the 2nd plane hit. It gave me chills to sit there watching as it plowed into that building. My brother knew a few people's parents that were on one of the planes that came out of boston. This world can be a crazy place. All I can say is God Bless America and I hope we find Bin Ladin and make an example of their sorry excuse for an organization.

I was still up from the day before when I had a mild case of insomnia. The sight was too disturbing. I swore to myself that it wasn't real. I called some friends and woke them up to see if it was just me. I wish I was just weirding out. I hope that nobody has to witness that kind of cruelty again.
