There is a lot of good info on cnet.com, avsforums.com and hometheatermag.com.
I did a lot of research before picking mine up. It was narrowed down to the Sharp Aquos and the Sony XBR3.
Somewhere is a good article on the human eye and the correlation to pixel size. I'll see if I can find it. I believe the summary was though that anything 40" and under 720P would be fine because the eye can't tell the difference between 1080P and 720P.
If you're getting something bigger (45" and up) I think it's worth it to have 1080P.

If you get a 40" and below 720p should be fine. I just got a 37" Samsung LCD and really can't tell the difference from my 46" Sharp LCD.

I play on a 55" and the one thing I can say is don't sit too close. I never get motion sick from ANYTHING, but if you sit too close so the tv fills up your peripheral vision and play on indoor close-confines maps, (especially when they do heavy weapon screen shake effects) it messes with your brain. A few hours will cause a major headache.
you need to sit around 7' from a 50" screen to really be able to see a benefit from 1080p resolution. Beyond that, you'd be better off buying a nicer 720p set for the same price, or saving money. Pioneer Kuro and Elite sets = numba 1.
