Shipping from the USA to Canada
I've got my Volk wheels for sale on the forum and a member says he wants them. Come to find out he is in Canada. I usually ship FedEx, but when I tried to get a shipping quote on their website its telling me there will be a number of export forms I've got to fill out and he may be liable for Duty and Canadian taxes in excess of $200! I've used USPS to ship internationally before, but their tracking system is a joke and they will only insure each box for $675, not the $900 I need.
I know in the world of Ebay and Internet purchases with world wide shipping, it can't be this hard, or is it? Is there something I'm missing? I hate for the sale to fall apart, but it seems it'll be too much of a PITA for me to ship out of the USA.
HELP!!!

Yes, they will have to pay a "duty" charge on items over a certain amount. You're not that far from Victoria BC, make a deal with this guy to pay your gas to drive up there and ship them in Canada.
Thats gonna cost him a lot more than the duty and taxes! 10hr round trip drive, gas, my time. Probably wouldn't work. I'm not sure how far he is from the canada/Washington border, but I would entertain meeting him half way. I had thought about that.
My brother used to work for FedEx and he said they include a brokerage fee in their prices that eliminates duty and tax costs for the receiver when sending items to Canada. He hasn't been with them for a few years now so I dunno whether that's still true or not, but whenever I received an item before from FedEx, I never had to pay anything.

He can self broker it by going to the customs office in his city. He needs the invoice, that's it.
