In short, I got promoted. I will soon be working in Paris for 6 months all expenses paid, with my current salary on top of that. Now, i'm a 20 year old guy with no real outgoings (

sounds like a tough decision, what area would you possibly be moving to?

I'll have a house in Dundee, Glasgow or Edinburgh in Scotland. The company pays for the tempory flat in Paris.

Thanks for replying

You'll be thanking yourself later if you get the house. You can't exactly live in a s2000. Though the s2000 would be fun, it's a terriable financial decision.

um, apartments? renting a home as opposed to buying it?

my experience has been that you should wait to settle down before buying a house. women are a bit pickier than men.

what the OP should be doing, since he's single, is finding a roommate. bachelor pad ftw!

I can't believe this is an actual question, if you're asking this then you know the right answer is the one that seems boring.

Truth is, in my current position in life if I didn't already have the S2000, I wouldn't buy one now. I'd be dumping nearly everything in to a house. Would you rather own something worth $200k+ or something worth $20k? Yes, I know the bank would "own" most of the house while you pay it down, but you'd be moving in the right direction.

And who says you can't own your bachelor pad and be the landlord? Buy a home with the intention to rent out a room or separate apartment in the house (or condo) and get some other sap to start covering a big portion of your mortgage!

If "all your expenses" paid includes housing, then I would find things to invest in. It sounds like you don't even need a car at this point in your life given all your traveling.
