Should I start getting worried?

Is the area secluded at all? The first thing I thought of was people (kids) huffing various chemicals in your yard & then hiding stuff to avoid being caught or for later use.

But someone else's front yard is a peculiar place to get high...

I like the metal finder idea..... maybe make a sweep through before mowing every time for a while. better safe than sorry.

I live on a small (15 acre) horse farm. The front 300 feet or so is only about 100 feet wide with homes on both sides. That's where I'm having the problem. My house is much more secluded. In fact I can't even see the problem part of the yard from the house.

If it happens again I'll start getting pissed. One time is strange, two times is freaking weird, a third time almost can

Don't be, you don't have to keep it up. Three hours a week just to mow the main yard plus over 2 ten hour days every two weeks on the pastures. It's one of those things that sounded like a good idea at the time. If I had enough money to hire a full time helper it would be great, but i don't.

I dunno, CG. I don't think my neighbors would take too kindly to my mowing after dark. Could that be it?
