Thanks. I actually made it in 5 1/2.
Very Nice. That must have been an open rate.

SIIK2NR Way to go. 38 at over 20 and an Officer. You'll have some nice pocket change when you retire and you're young. With that background you'll be able to pick up where you left off hopefully making $$$.

Although I feel my career was cut abruptly, I did love my time in. Another benefit (If you can call it that) due to my injuries was that I am listed as a Veteran. After the Navy, the VA took me and is still treating me. There is a compensation that is paid out, but non-the-less I believe I've been taken care of

No matter how you slice it, the benefits out weight the risks.

You're a real good friend. You just can't help someone that won't help themselves.

I've walked that path with a close friend of mine. Some people just don't get it. My friend and have had a bad parting. Right now he's 34 going on 35, he's probably working as a Police dispatcher, as he used me for reference. This is probably the highest paying job for him. Prior to that he was making $11 an hour in Austin and in a crappy relationship.

He's probably blaming me for his down fall too. He asked me if he should be an FBI Agent at age 33 w/ only a 2 year degree from ITT. Then he asked me if I think he should be a SWAT team member when he was 34. FYI....he's got the loser mentality, if it gets too hard he'll find an excuse on why he shouldn't finish.

I've learn to walk away and don't waste your valuable time and energy helping those who can't or don't want to help themselves.

I have 8 friends after high school went to the navy. only one of them likes it. they said that every one there is 2 faced and higher rank ppl go on power trips. 7 of them went to san diago and the one that likes it is in Italy. if he gonna go he will better off picking someplace place over seas as is main base.

When you strt of your pay is crap but if he goes up rank he will get a raise every new rank. you get to save lots of money cause you save alot not paying rent or food. also get to go to places that most ppl well never see.oh and they pay for school.

It has it pro and cons but there Alot of bullshit it like living in a Forums

Out of the 8 only 1 resign and the other 7 said they will never do it again

sometimes the job sucks and sometimes it's awesome. When I was attached to a sub I worked 80 hrs a week when in port. Now, I am on shore duty and work 20 hrs a week. I think it all evens out. You will work with idiots no matter the environment. Be it military or civilian. The only benefit in civilian work is that you can quit.

When you heading to boot camp?

Was at Camp Pendleton for 3 years and at these camps between 3 years, Camp Lester, Camp Foster, & Iwakuni Air Base. Also provided coverage at MCRD and Camp Pendleton's Crucible.

Have fun

It definitly is what you make of it.. I served 5 years in the Navy as a Construction Mechanic and never set foot on a Navy ship. I been to Greece, Guam, Cuba, Kuwait, Iraq, Sri Lanka and other places i cant recall. It has its ups and downs for sure. Yes the pay sucks but if your good with money you can save alot and I sure did. I got housing and food allowance as well and lived off base a block from the beach in Mississippi. I made E5 in 3 years which definitly helped with the income.
