Should my friend join the Navy?
If you ask most kids that have only been in for a few years, most will say they hate it. Often times they will end up doing "grunt" work and not even get a change to do what they were taught at school until their 2nd or 3rd year of service. Some are fortunate and get to start right a way.
The Navy or military in general is not a part time job or pizza delivery. It's a structured lifestyle, it can be a career for many. One thing it is not....is a part time job.
It's all about paying your dues. Everyone starts at the bottom.
It's unfortunate that your friend declined the opportunity. Hopefully he will find his calling before it's too late.

The key is to flow with the program, let others get the attention. It's all a big mind game that starts by physically breaking you down. As long as you use common sense, you'll be fine. Save your energy for the times when your DI's want to see how motivated you are.
Should you complete, don't forget one thing. ALWAYS take care of your Corpsman (Doc). Cause I always made sure I watched over all my Marines.
