99% of the FM stations sucks.
that's why I'm thankful for KEXP; commercial free, where the dj's actually pick what they want to play. free song of the day podcast, free music that matters podcast, streaming live archive of the past weeks shows, and live play lists.
If you haven't heard of it, check out there website KEXP.org. totally awesome music (Listen to john in the Morning
)

I doubt they will be completely gone. There are WAAAY too many companies tied into them, including XMTraffic (used on every new car with navi) all the electronics companies that make XM/Sirius products, etc. Someone will buy it up at a dirt cheap price, and keep it going.

Yeah, I got sick of music radio a long time ago, and I used to work in radio.
When I listened to classic rock, practically all I'd hear is leonard skynnard, molly hatchett or the same tired zepplin song over and over.

That's one way or you could go out and see GOOD local bands and buy their CDs. I have must be close to a dozen CDs from local bands. Great stuff.
