Slacking 101
My latest scam involves switching to a 4 10 schedule. I don't even have to make up anything for Friday anymore. And I still work the same 4 to 5 hours I always do. Work being a relative term of course. Speaking of which, it is almost 11:30 AM here in Long Beach, time for the lunch crowd to head out. You know what that means! 3 day week-end here I come!
Here are a few more that come to mind:
- Walk around, a lot.
- Carry paperwork with you at all times
- When in a group or near your manager, glance at your watch, do a double take at it, look worried, then hurry off somewhere as if you are late for an important meeting. Of course, carrying paperwork with you...
Simple, but highly effective...

I commonly get a friend to shut down my machine and make it look like I just left when I have really been gone for an hour or more. I tell everyone I'm going down for a smoke and then I don't come back. I'm never at my desk anymore so it's fairly easy. Great tactics here guys, now I have to figure out a way to implement them.
Greg,
I had an officemate that would duck out early all the time. His trick was to leave his glasses on his desk. That way, it made it look like he was still there, since his glasses where on his desk. I think he had 2 pairs of glasses, that tricky bastard.

Mark, that is a great idea. I only wear glasses when I read, but I should pick up another pair just for this...
And I just experimented with Outlook to see if by changing the system clock, what the timestamp of the email would be. I didn't expect it to change, as the timestamp comes from the Exchange server. But hey, WTF else do I have to do?!

RodneyK, that looks like fun. Would love to do that, but here in Hell, 30 miles ouside of Chicago, not too many hills to do that, unfortunately.
