Sleeping aids?

At home, I also have Ambien, Ambien CR, Lunesta, etc.--real sleeping prescription drugs. But I rarely take them because they are absolutely horrific. I'd rather not get sleep than to suffer through their side effects.

what side effects? i was looking into that when i saw the commercial, but still not sure that seems a little hardcore for me, but then again i really have trouble sleeping.
But for me personally, grogginess, headaches, exhaustion, nervousness, wishing for death instead
, etc. Herbal stuff doesn't induce those effects.
Purple,
If you hate the side effects but need a good Rx go with sonata. It only helps get to to sleep, lasts only 4 hours, so it'll knock you out and hopefully your body will do the rest.
I would recommend doing some cardio when you get home, about 30 minutes. You'll feel more energised afterwards (forget about sleeping right after) you might be tired but you body will be pumping endorphins which will stimulate your brain, so if you do it say at 6 buy 10-11 you'll be more ready for bed. Drink a boat load of water between the time you finish your workout and about an hour before bed, that way you won't have to get up to go to the restroom.
If you start to do this as a matter of habit every day after work, your sleep pattern will probably improve immensely. Where talking a week or more of 30 minutes a day everyday about 4 or so hours before your ready to sleep.
Try it, it should work well. Usually people who can't readily fall to sleep are worried or thinking too much to fall to sleep. Stop doing anything in bed, only hit the hay when you're ready to sleep. If your finding yourself think a lot before sleeping talk to a counselor.
Good luck, not getting sleep stinks and I'm one of those people who have a hard time as well, but when I do what I'm telling you to do, I don't have a problem. Yet I often find myself not following my own advise.

Vigorous sex, preferably with more than one partner. Guaranteed to knock me out.
The other option is taking care of my 18-month old daughter, who goes non-stop from 6am to 8pm every day. Once she goes to bed, we're ready to pass out too.

Had insomnia my whole life. The best cure I have found is to have a radio on to some talk station real quiet. So quiet you have to strain to make out what they are saying. Try to pay attention to whatever the topic is but even the slightest noise makes it impossible to hear the radio. Knocks me right out.
That and thunderstorms. Love em. The lightning, house shaking thunder. Sweet. Makes me sleep like a baby though.
