Had insomnia my whole life. The best cure I have found is to have a radio on to some talk station real quiet. So quiet you have to strain to make out what they are saying. Try to pay attention to whatever the topic is but even the slightest noise makes it impossible to hear the radio. Knocks me right out.
ya, i don't have a radio, i sometimes turn on infomercials really low and i put my tv on sleep for like 1hr. i used to watch the bible station to put me to sleep, but i found i was waking up all depressed. LOL, and watching things like the matrix or long kiss goodnight, i find i don't sleep as well, must be all the gunfire, and my desire to get up to watch a certain part.

Insomnia can also be partly genetically inherited. Both my mom and sister have it, and now I do too. Actually, a lot of my mom's side of the family have it

Nothing, just watch Leno with a timer on the tv to shut it off.
Works for me. And when it doesn't, I just hold my breath till I get light headed....do this a couple times and I fall asleep easily. No, seriuosly...this is what I sometimes do and it works.

You could feel your heart rate slow down....such pretty colors.

working out regularly helps sleep related problems..

Box of wine.... knocks me right out.

But seriously, I'll seond what exceltoexcel said. I know it's better to do cardio in the morning, but if I do cardio after work around 5 or 6, I'm ready to pass out by 10-11.

Good luck
