Yes I know it stands for Sport but it really could stand for special also. I also know most of you old timers know what makes it special but for some of the newer members and for those who may be sitting on the fence about purchasing one I thought I might recap some of what makes the S2000 such a very special automobile.
HERITAGE:
Honda has been in business over 50 years (as has Porsche and Ferrari) and most of those years were spent competing at the very highest levels in motorsports, first with motorcycles, then with automobiles. Also like Ferrari and Porsche racing is in their DNA. Mr Honda himself was a racer and a fanatic about building engines. He named the company "The Honda MOTOR Company" after all. Almost to the day he died he would don a white lab coat and be found in the HONDA R&D building tinkering with the new engine technologies and mixing with his young engineers. He made it a policy to send his young promising engineers to the different racing programs HONDA was involved in. He believed in proving the superiority of his products on the world stage of international competition. He believed that racing improved his products and more importantly, his young engineers. To this day The CEOs of Honda are all promoted from the ranks of engineers, not bean counters. HONDA has amassed an unbelievable amount of race wins and championships in all types of racing. There is even a saying about HONDA; "HONDA enters,...HONDA Wins". Many people believe (and I am one of them) that HONDA builds the best engines in the world. HONDA is the largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines in the world.
THE S2000 Overall
Designed as the car to commemorate HONDA's 50th anniversary.
Derived from the SSM (Sports Study Model) Prototype show car.
Designed by the same engineers who designed the Championship winning (6 times in 9 years) F1 engines for such greats as Prost, Piquet, and Senna.
Designed by the same engineers who designed the Accura NSX
Hand assembled in the same factory (HONDA's Premier Tochigi Plant) as the NSX.
Limited Production.
Only Front Engined Rear Wheel drive Honda Roadster available since the S800.
Has been on Car & Drivers 10 best list for both model years.
Named to Road & Track's Best both model years
The Engine has been named by Wards as one of the 10 best both years of production.
Has a perfect reliability score in Consumer Reports as well as rated as a best buy and named most fun to drive.
Is consistently compared to cars that cost upwards of $20,000 more and beats them.
The Car
SUPER rigid high center backbone X Frame design. Derived from a Colin Chapman design (Lotus). Is as rigid as many coupes. This allows a stiffer more highly tuned suspension without the worry of chassis flex.
Four wheel double wishbone suspension which is derived from the NSX design.
Showa gas Shocks with the rears having a remote resevoir.
Four wheel disc brakes with ABS.
Special design Brigestone S02 tires.
Electric boosted power steering.
Integrated roll bars both behind the passenger compartment and in the windshield frame.
Excellent crash worthiness.
Recaro Seats.
Alloy pedals perfectly placed for Heel/Toe shifting
50-50 weight distribution. The S2000 is really a mid engine design with the engine mounted in front of the driver but behind the front axle.
Dual airbags.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) Headlights.
Big Red Starter Button!
All controls within fingertip reach of the Steering Wheel.
A minimalist design geared towards giving the driver the closest thing to experiencing a Formula type single seat race car for the street.
The Engine and Running Gear
The highest specific HP per liter, naturally aspirated production piston automobile engine in the world. 120HP/liter.
The highest revving production piston engine (car) in the world. 9000RPMs
Quite possibly the best engine size & weight per HP ratio of any naturally aspirated piston production engine.
With all this performance it is still rated as an LEV
VTEC on both intake and exhaust.
Forged pistons
Forged Rods
Forged crank
Hollow Cams (for lightness and oil flow to the valve springs)
Valve springs and main bearing material derived from the championship winning CART Engines.
Roller valve train
carbon fiber/metalic ceramic cylinder liners.
Chain/gear driven cams
Split cam gears for zero backlash and low noise
Hand welded and formed stainless headers
Nutless rod design
Girdled main bearing carrier with cast iron inserts.
Tapered wristpins for light weight
No ballance shafts
Individual Coils for each cylinder
Die cast aluminum block
Die cast finned aluminum oil pan
Die cast finned aluminum Transmission case
Die cast finned aluminum differential housing
Torsen (torque sensing) LSD
Pressure fed oil circulation in transmission
Just about the best shifting 6 speed ever made.
Ferrari-like RED Valve Cover.
HONDA RELIABILITY AND BUILD QUALITY
Performance
0-60 in under 6 seconds
1/4 Mile in under 14 seconds
60-0 in under 115 feet
Slalom at over 70 MPH
Skid Pad over .9 G
Well that is just some of what makes the S stand for Special. I am sure many here will add to this list. For those who don't own one yet let me just say that all of the above adds up to the most engaging automobile I have ever driven. This is a true "Driver's Car" and it is indeed very, very special because of that.

I think it was wrong to ban the guy, but he was warned to stop and did not. Its only a forum theirs no need to take it so seriously to ban someone just because they didn't listen to you. I hope no one is going on a forum moderator power trip, lol. Anyways, whats going to stop him from getting onto the forum onto a different name. Its not a big deal, let the guy back in i say
There are a few thread that deal with this issue, and surprise they are still unlocked. I don't think we need another thread on the subject. But hey that's just my Mod mentality.
I'm moving this to OT.

Yeah, we get threats of lawsuits all the time by people that are fired... Funny how some people think areas (i.e., work or this board for instance) are a democracy.
Eric OWNS this board - plain and simple. He does what he wants. You have to respect that even if you don't agree with it. If you can't respect it, then don't put up with it, just leave (or quit).

I've stayed out of it a much as possible and only participated as an audience member. I consider myself to be somewhat of a friend to Nick (GTRPower) in a sense that if he needed anything that I could help with, I'd be there. I've also felt as if he'd be there if I asked anything of him.
In any case, I think banning Bieg (and/or GTRPower) was wrong. Yes, it's Erik's board; yes, it may not be a democracy; and yes, if you don't like it leave...but how mature of an action was it?
There are many other boards out there that have willing members argue, call out each other's names, threaten, etc., .....but what these guys did was NOTHING compared to that.
If I was a stranger and came in on these threads, I would infer that there was a rivalry...but for the most part is was a pretty mature rivalry with some personal indifferences (ok, maybe more than just some). However, along with those "attacks", there was much intelligent debate between the two.
It's that debate that I and others learned from.....debate was not wrong at all!!!! This is how we as humans learn new experiences...it's the basis of discussion in every Philosophy of Knowledge class taught in U.S. colleges and universities.
I can promise one outcome of this banning: This action will have scared away any more intelligent debate from others.
I, for one, will not speak up against some mis-advice on the subject of body mods, appealing or apauling aesthetics, body care, etc. I will shy away from possible flame posts directed torwards me....I don't want to stand out as a "black-sheep" and get banned.....I want to be able to keep coming around and add my $0.02, I want to be heard....even though I may be just an average member; so to maintain access to the board I will censor myself in situations. But let me ask you something, "Who wins with that?"
The winner obviously is not the recipient of mis-information; it's not the reputation of this board; it's not the readers of the posts....there really is no winner!!!
Aside from this argument, I don't think these two guys's bickering was that bad. For people that wanted to avoid it, they had all the options in the world on this board: 1)Avoid the posts, 2)Ignore the posts by the person that irked you, 3) Block the posts of the person who irked you in your profile settings, 4) Go to another board.
Another topic brought up, "Go to another board". How much does that suck? What if there was only one local phone provider, and you had a complaint against their billing, customer service, quality of service, and so on? You complain, their reply to you is, "Bye-bye, go find yourself another provider!"
Well there are other providers but not with the level of functionality, lower prices, etc. What are you left to do, bite the bullet and take it up the a$$ from your current provider or take up the a$$ with the hassles of switching over and not getting everything you would from the main provider? <---I'm glad there are government agencies that protect the consumer from this. I think what would be close to a gov't agency for this board would be the sponsors....let the sponsors make the "executive" decisions of who gets banned and who doesn't....if you keep banning intellectual bantor, the sponsors may just back out of sponsorship. However, the sponsors may take personal interests in banning the likes of Bieg and not GTRPower because as we all know, GTRPower is the "voice of the aftermarket". He's the one to push aftermarket products, which is what the board's sponsors sell.
There you go....I hope I offered all you readers, moderators, and board owner something to chew on.
Besides, now all we have to go back to talking about are the topics of "Hey what's your age", "Damn dealer screwed me", "My S2000 sucks, it's my last Honda", "Windshield tape removal gone wrong", "Hey look how fast I went", and a handful of others.
Yes it was a soap opera....but like any soap opera, they command some marketability (for sponsors, the board, and the individuals).
