Default Soldiers Need Our HELP!

Hello S2k Fam,

Please help my organization reach its goal and please share this link with your family, friends, peers, co-workers and loved ones. Anyone can make a donation to help send a little piece of home to the men and women who are fighting for us overseas! We will be teaming up with HeroBox, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that sends Custom Care Packages to soldiers that are deployed overseas. Together we will be teaming up to build a goal of 500 Custom Care Packages.

“America's fighting men and women sacrifice much to ensure that our great nation stays free. We owe a debt of gratitude to the soldiers that have paid the ultimate price for this cause, as well as for those who are blessed enough to return from the battlefield unscathed.” - Allen Boyd

S2Gezuz,

It looks like a good cause and I have sent care packages during the holidays in past years through the USO, but I have a couple questions I hope you can answer.

It was my understanding, at least this was the case a few years ago, that the US military only accepted care packages either made by an accepted organization like the USO or they would not accept generic care packages to soldiers fearing what someone anti-military or anti"war" might send unless they could specifically send it to a soldier by name and unit. Could you tell me what steps your organization goes through to comply and get military approval/acceptance to provide packages?

Secondly, I have volunteered for a couple "charities" in the past couple years that really let me down when I found out that they claimed to get money towards the charity and found 5% of the money collected made it to the intended homeless and the rest went to the organization's owners. Couple that with the recent article that NBA player Lamar Odom raised a bunch of money for cancer and put it all in his own pocket, and many wounded vet charities that turned out to be scams, I am pretty down on unknown charities right now. Can you provide and secondary review or article in support of your organization?

It looks like a valid organization and if I think it is on the up an up I will glady buy one Herobox. Sorry for sounding like a dick.

When the OP has 8 posts and a relatively recent join date, I don't feel it out of line to ask a few questions.

I believe it is fair to go through one's due diligence, even with charitable endeavors.

Hey man thanks for the interest, I am part of Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. and out national executive board has paired up with Heroboxes to produce these boxes at our national conference that will be in New Orleans this year. As far as the regulations and such I do not know too much, I know that we just have to meet the regulations that the USDA and military have implemented. Here is their website http://www.herobox.org/about/ to try and answer the question. Like I said, I wish I had more specific information, with the money funded we will make these boxes at our conference, the foods and materials will be there already and we will just assemble them, along with writing thank you letters. No I am not trying to scam anyone and just because I joined a bit ago with only 8 posts does not means that I am not credible. I take pride in my organization and what we do.

I'm heavily involved in organizations like these since 99% of my friends and some family are involved overseas and are enlisted as well.

I'll be contributing as well.
