It seems like most of that is accurate. I'm not sure about #2 though. Car "accidents" slaughter 40k a year, many people are actually involved in them, but there is little recognition of the danger. Conversley for meteor strikes: ook up the calculated risk probability of that. Vatly wore than anybody is aware...
