ok I would believe that spanking if done in a vicious and frequent manner could cause stress on a child. That stress may in fact lead to lower IQ as the child shuts down. But the majority of spanking isn't vicious and frequent.

But spanking when they are being little shits? A single tap on the bum is fine.

Spanking > Prescription drugs pushed at kids now. We have a situation where some 7 year olds are on depression meds. It's a messed up world.

You're making an assumption that a child with lower IQ will be far more respectful than a smart child.
I've met more kids who are assholes because they get beaten for doing bad shit than kids who are assholes because they just get grounded. In fact, many school bullies take out their pent up rage from getting beaten on other students.
