Default STDs

I went to my college orentintation last week and there was a seminar called "Sex and Relationships." Of course I thought it was just some little thing like "When you go to college, you should focus on your studies!!!! NO SEX!!!" So uh anyways I walked in there with like 4 other people (out of like... 100) and they started flashing images of damn penises with STDS... vaginas with STDS... eyeballs with STDS... it was just horrible... they didn't even talk about relationships! Just trying to scare the 4 people in there about damn STDs! They got me good. I was just wondering if it was really that bad out there since I am not that much of Mr. Social Person with the ladies (Can't help it... New Bern sucks... my city is so boring... we have like 10 stores in our mall and the workers outnumber the shoppers!). Are STDs that big of a deal in college?

STD's are a big deal anywhere, I'm lucky enough to have avoided them all, but I get tested reguarly. Some are worse then others, being that some will just screw up your life, and other could kill you.

In the year we live in, this sorta shit should always be on your mind when you are with someone, for the first while anyway.

You ask specifically in college? I went to thre Universities in 6 months, and if you worked it out, I indirectly slept with 60% of the school...

Its a big deal

Trust me never sit down and follow the chain out. If you do it will blow your mind. STD's at some colleges are a huge problem SDSU has a 60+ infection rate on some of the non deadly stuff.

Commen sense goes a long way. Don't take home the blond dancing on the table to early in the night but if you meet the right girl at the right time it's all good. You wil get some good judgment skills later on in life. Pretend you have them now.

Beer is your friend and foe. I have seem some real questionable girls go home with my friends, you get to bring this sort of stuff up at batchlor parties.

A good condom will go a long way to keeping you safe. Trust me on that one, children are wonderful things but at 20 they will screw your life up, I know from experiance so just take my word on it.

Short version of the story. A pregnancy was blaimed on me, girl I dated never slept with. Got back to my parents before I even found about it. Still picking up peices about 1 year later.

STD rates are high in some area simply because there is not much to do but fool around and drink so just be careful.

Of all my advice listen to this one. I have never had a relationship last where fornication occured in the first night or even week. If you are looking for a differnet girl every night then don;t listen to this. But in my experiance it is much easier to simply go home and have fun then to have to go out and look for it.

Sorry long post, also do some simply searches and find some of the safe S$x sites that are out ther, lots of statistics and the like.

In Australia they have been putting lots of ads on TV about the risk of contracting various STD's. 'Big Brother', the reality TV show has numerous genital herpes ads on thoughout it's viewing time. Apparently 1 in 8 people are afflicted with this disease. A scary thought indeed. I would say STD's are that big of a deal *anywhere*, not just in college.

Muz is correct in his assumtion that it is every where today. The reason that I am so adamant about people and there safty is that I have worked in labs with live HIV virus, live Hep and lots of other really nasty level 2 stuff.

The worst story being that a girl used to donate blood and we would use her as a negitive control. Well once we tested her and she came back positive. Well we were in a bind and legally reported it back to the company that we were recieving samples from. It seemed she was working on standard lab blood IE unknown patogen and had fallen on a needle she was carring. It suck in her hand and then injected ~10cc's if whole blood. She wil have to live with a mistake of tripping for the rst of her life. Now she was careful lab tech and she made a mistake walking, with a infetion rate as high as 1/2 in some schools are you willing to ake the risk.

If it gets to that point get tested if not then accept the concequences of your actions. Approx. 50% of all new infections are now female, so it's no long the culture contained virus that it was.

Be safe, keep your fluids to yourself and you should be fine, don't worry about it to the point you freak yourself out but just remember that if a girl has a reputation for being well easy then just run its not worth the agravation.
