STFU
Here's the Best Part about a 'Moderator' stepping in...
So a 'Moderator' first posts that I should "Follow [my own] advice and STFU." Then he preaches that this is a place of all ages, blah, blah and you shouldn't use the phrase as it's against the rules.
I just can't believe what a big issue it is. Seriously, WTF.

Hmmm, you argue that STFU is not personal, then take it personal when I say it to you. Do you see a contradiction here?
This forum is a public place. There are people of all ages, cultures and expectations here. If you would say STFU to your buddies that's just dandy. Would you say it to your mum? Someone elses mum? Someone big hairy and sensitive?
I'm done explaining it to you. If you don't understand that is not a problem for me. But it is against the rules of this forum and we all need to respect them.

Just go read the history of some of the regulars in Off Topic. Quite a few posts will actually read on par with the of the aforementioned GroovyNeilNeil who got banned...again. The difference is when there's a little history behind your posts and peoples' first impressions of you aren't negative.
You're fine, just let it go and move on, bitch.
I think many will consider that sort of thing to just show a general lack of respect for others and either a lack of maturity or intelligence or possibly both. If that's all you can come up with then I would suggest going back to school.
I think people on the internet are a bunch of weeners. People today are way too politically correct and sensitive to the stupidest shit (
OMG pardon my french!!!)
I don't see anything wrong with saying STFU in a kidding tone. I can understand why they could possibly take it the wrong way, but the smilie and fact you said you were kidding kinda gave that part away.
