Stook vs. LS1 and LT1

I can't believe how much quicker the LS1 cars are than the LT1s. I had a '95 Z28 and the best time I ran the day I took mine to the strip was around 14.5 @100mph in the 1/4, stock.

The LS1s are much more consistent putting from 295 to 305 at the wheels !!!!!!!!! So needless to say they are crazy fast.
Another difference between the models is that the LT1s have a little more low end and no top end while the LS1s have a good top end.
So if you try to race an LS1 in a straight line, prepare to get your A$$ handed to you. LT1s will be close advantage going to the s2k since most are on the slow end.
We even did some Gtech tests with a friend of mine with a 1996 RAM AIR. My stook was new at the time, only 2000 Miles on the odo, i was running 13.99-14.2s and he was running 14.6-14.9s.

sweet.. thanks for the replys everyone.. my friend has a '96 ram air lt1.. and ls1's just walk away from it during a race.. he's about to put a hot cam in and do all the upgrades that make it into a lt-4. at which point it'll be around 400hp.. hopefully i'll get my car and race him before he does that.
spanking a v8 would just be hilarous. amazing lil' 2.0 vs. 5.6's or whatever they are.
..also mustang GT's.. much of a match? i'm guessing not.. sense the LT1 spanks them w/ ease.

How would a stage I (chipped) S4 do against these American big dogs? I've heard of the chipped ones pulling on the recently made Mustang Cobras.
And we're not even talking about stage II or III.

I'm down with my man, Joshua on this one. The S2000 could not reel in a Z06 anywhere, unless it's King racecar S2000 and driven by a highly skilled driver. Those things are fast as balls and they handle quite well, from what I understand. Yea, they are big, squeeky rattletraps, but they are fast like Modena fast.
I routinely admin smack to V8s. I posted a Kill Story on HA eons ago about killing a recent Cobra on the highway. I took a ridiculous amount of undeserved poo poo for it from all the little trolls that haunted that place. But it was true and I stand by my story.
Mustang GT's, it's always fun to see their jaws hitting the steering wheel in the rear view mirror. Man, I love doing that...makes me do this ---->
On the way back from The Dragon with Jason and Juliann, a new A4 was playing with me. I shamed him from the bottom of second to the bottom of third when he tucked tail and ran back to mommy... hehe
A friend has an S4, I should run him sometime just for giggles...will post results if that happens.

A couple of thoughts on this one. First about the S4, I got a ride in one last week (or maybe two weeks ago now). He had a chip and had just recently had a Borla exhaust put on. I was REALLY impressed. With 4 people in the car it pulled all over the rpm band. Erik was there with me, so hopefully he'll chime in with his thoughts. The thing I was really impressed with was how smooth it was, both in handling and in delivery of hp and torque.
About the LS1/LT1 thing. I think it's been covered pretty well in this thread. Stock for stock, the LS1s are awesome. Much more consistant than the LT1s as Sev stated. I love my car to death but have considered trading it in on an LS1 a few times. For me though, the cons outweigh the pros. They are riddled with clutch problems, even at stock HP levels. You really can't overbore them much as I plan to do someday with my car. Basically, that's it though. I want a 383 cid with a 6 speed. The only way that's going to happen is with my LT1.
For the guy who said his friend was going to put in a HOT cam, it's really the only way to get on top of the LS1s as long as they aren't too heavily modded. It does give a pretty mean sound too. This is through stock heads, stock exhaust manifolds, stock y-pipe, and a Borla cat back.
