A story of a man who spent 2 years in prison
#21
Just read some of it. The "yellow jelly sh*t" was a little on the graphic side.
I have toured every prison in my state (except the federal one) and its really an odd experience. Some of it is kind of creepy. Walking through the administrative seg unit (solitary) in our super max gives you the willies a little. They do not have doors with bars on them, they were 2 inch thick steel doors with a 2 inch verticle window running above the doorknob to the top. The guys in there were so bored when they walked us through they all ran up to the windows and they are wide enough to just look out with one eye. So you walk by a cell block of 20 cells and there are 20 single eyes pressed up against each window that track you as you walk through.
Our prisons do have lots of workout stuff (I did not see any in the supermax) and TV's because the guards want it. Happy ooccupied prisoners cause less trouble. And I did not notice any were foul smelling but maybe they clean em up before I got the tours.
The sex offender place is odd too. You know everyone is a perv, but the have seprate "cottages" for the geriatric sex offenders with porches and rocking chairs. You walk past and there are three old grandpas siiting in rocking chairs enjoying a nice day and you know they are all kiddie diddlers.

So now that I'm done reading that
That guy is amazing for coming out of that without being totally messed up in the head. I can't imagine trying to get your life back together after that. Imagine if you did 5 years or 10. There's no way you'd be able to reintegrate into society.
