Default Anybody complete the P90x program?

I am about 100 days from the utter craphole that is 40 years of age. Anyway, since I am in total denial I am trying to be in supreme shape on my 40th. Call it vanity or midlife crisis, whatever. Just want to see if I can be in the same shape I was in at 25 when I am 40.

The wife is into fitness so she has a couple hundred workout videos and has the P90x program. I also have a small gym area in the basement with a decent set of dumbells, a Hoist gym with leg press, and a plate loaded bench/shoulder press machine.

I have been working out with the regular hour of weightlifting and doing a 10 mile bike ride about three to four times a week.

Just wondering if anyone has gone through the whole P90x and would recommend it or if I should just stick with the regular weightlifting routine?

Any P90x experience?

p90x is ok, it is essentially cardio with weights, alot of new moves, and a strict schedule.

i dont have many dumbells, so it isnt that easy for me, and i like lifting weights better, but if you follow the program, it should get you in shape.

Don't know if that will make me buff but it will help my fat gut.

Kinda what I was thinking. My wife loves the cardio stuff but does not want to do anything really strenuous so she did one of the first workouts which had a lot of pushups and hated it because her arms hurt afterward.

I am fine with a difficult workout, but find the idea of doing aerobics routines in front of the TV is not my thing unless its a really good program.

I just have several friends who know my wife has just about every fitness video out there asking me if I can burn copies of this for them. (and my wife tells them to buy their own) I thought I would look into how some people liked it if a few guys have really wanted to get a hold of it. I had never heard of the thing.

It's more of a fat burning program but it gets into some muscle building in the last 30 days. If you follow it you will definitely see good results

It won't make you big, it will make you lean muscle. I have many friends who swear by it and they are in great shape. It's no joke though. Hard workouts. I plan on starting it soon.

Arguably the hardest thing I have tried. I was not in shape at all when I started and I couldnt complete the cycle. Since then I have focused on loosing as much weight as possible by eating correctly, lifting weights 3x a week and then doing cardio 3x a week with one day off a week.

If your already semi in shape and can do a few pull ups then I would really recommend this work out. If you don't have a pull up bar, then buy one, because your going to need it.

I will be attempting the P90x program again at the end of Sept.

I had a pullup/dip tower but gave it away. I either have to go get another one or I was going to just use my hoist machine lat pulldown bar as a substitute. Doing seated pulldowns set at my body wieght is probably not as good, but its the best substitute I have right now.

There is no substitute for pull ups, but I guess that's better than nothing.
