Default Sucks.....

So on friday my laptop died. Grrr. It has all my shit on it. It's the MB most likely as there is no POST or anything. Anyhow its under warrenty and someone is gonna be out by wednesday. But this sucks.

I hate using a machine that isn't home. None of my usual apps are installed..... My data is on the laptop too. Maybe I'll go buy a 2.5" HD adapter so I can atleast get my shit.

I feel your pain, same thing happened to me a few months ago. Although it was my hard drive that had all my digital photos that took a dump. Only about half were archived onto disc. I'm still looking for a good way to sync my laptop to my desktop (that's NOT MS suitcase).

Anyone know the best way to backup/sync data between a desktop and laptop? I have CD burners, network cards, firewire, etc... There has to be an easy solution.

Any ideas

http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison/

I've only used it on linux, but it works for all unixes and windows machines.

Bi-Directional Sync.

A hard disk going down is painful enough, believe me.

Happened to me a few months ago. And I had virtually no back ups...

Sorry to hear about your computer going out on you.

And I hate to hijack this thread, but is there any way to recover data off a laptop's hard drive?

As krazik mentioned, if the laptop died, but the drive was working you can get an adapeter to plug your HDD into your desktop
