Yeah, a graduate student in architecture walked into a professor's office and shot himself earlier this year.

Product of the coddling society that we have created for our kids. Feed them a regular diet of reality and they'll be better off to deal with the harshness of the world.

You're right. Places like Russia, Belarus, and Lithuania are clearly more "coddling" than the US as evidenced by the 300-400% higher suicide rates they have. Someone should let the kids in Belarus know how tough the world could be.

Gotta give you credit for looking that up. If that is in fact credible the top of the list does not read the way I would have expected it too.

i wonder how being suicidal/suicide evolved in humans. do animals commit suicide?
A search of the interwebs turned up studies that showed suicidal behaviors in animals, mostly as a response to stress, though there is certainly nothing definitive.

The link doesn't give statistics like reasons for suicide in other countries, but I'm willing to bet they don't kill themselves in Lithuania just because they knocked up their gf or just because someone pwned them on the internet.

Do you honestly believe that's the normal rationale for suicide in the US? Aside from a few specific and highly publicized cases, what are you basing that on? Suicide is present in all age groups, not just college and highschool students.

Which age group do you think has the highest suicide rates in the US? (I'll give you a hint, it's probably not people getting pnwed on the internet): http://www.suicide.org/suicide-stati...ml#death-rates

for losing a bet

^ Australia seems to be the wrong color in that image. Are there any other mistakes, or do we just take it at face value?
