After watching the video, my thoughts:

1) Yes, various people walk/drive past him. They should have stopped to make sure he doesn't get run over again, and that 911 was called.

2) Police say that several 911 calls came in within a minute of the impact.

3) Various pedestrians DO stop by him shortly after the impact.

4) They did the RIGHT THING by not touching him. What if he had a broken neck/spine, a broken femur, or a punctured lung? Dragging him onto his feet or over to the side would could very well have killed him instantly. Leaving him alone until trained medical first-responders arrived is the best thing to do.

5) I've heard criticism of the scooter rider because he circled the man and sped off. But there were already several people around the man - I suspect he asked about helping and was told that 911 was already called. What could he have done except become another useless gawker? He did the right thing by getting out of the way. Only if he was a trained EMT should he have stayed.

Exactly. These are my sentiments as well.

If you see an accident or something like this, unless the car is in flames you shouldn't touch the passengers or pedestrian unless you are an EMT or police. The days of the good samaritan ended when the good samaritan got sued for helping. Call 911 and Barbrady the F out (i.e. "move along people there is nothing to see here.")

I think its ridiculous that the media is really hyping this btw. Lots of people get hit daily, this one just happened to be on tape.

They were racing, as the both went up the same side street immediately therafter. He was jaywalking, contributing to the problem but only in a minor way.

There is no way that anyone should have moved him without a backboard, and more tards in the street would have only made it worse for the next unconcious drivers coming up the road.

1.5 minute response time is great. I have been on several scenes and 911 took over 15 minutes each time.

Yet another honda tard being a punk.

its sad to see that man got hit

but he brought it upon himself. what did him expect for jaywalking?

i am not trying to justify the hit-n-run (that guy should face the court of law as well)

but the man that got hit should take (at least some) liability for his own action
