You would know you are wearing a fake. But to each there own.

A all gold Rolex get's you into some cool places a Omega won't. A few weeks ago I made last minute Sunday brunch plans. They could not seat us together as I called on the way over. When we got there I approached the host and plopped my arm on the podium. Yellow gold day-date in plain view. She sat us together with a window view. About 20 minutes later the party that should have gotten our table arrived. They were pissed because they had to sit in various tables. Bottom line the girl made a comment about how she liked my watch. I had taken it off so she could try it on. I think that got us the table. Try that with a Omega. This has happened before.
I wouldn't do that with my Omega anyways. Personally I find such actions classless and tasteless.

I like TAG's style but I'm still not spending $1300 - $1800 to wear one. My limit for a watch, any watch, is maybe $300 (my Luminox is my most $$) . Heck, most of the time I don't wear a watch. Wanna know the time? I'll check my cell phone, wall clock, microwave oven, Palm, PC clock, or car/bike clock...

Are you serious? Good that you have the $ to afford that watch, but...... I personally wouldn't be too proud of that story.....

"Hey look at me... i have a $10k watch (or whatever it cost), please seat us somewhere special and f-u-c-k the next guy...... He is probably a loser who only has a $100 watch"

Do you leave the price tag on your clothes, etc... so everyone knows how much you paid?? It could get you a extra piece of pepperoni on your pizza???

Not my thing I guess.....
Hey, it is what it is.

For the record my entire wardrobe consists of slaps, board shorts and t-shirts or tank tops. I don't dress up for anything. That's why I choose to live at the beach ( okay that and the talent that hits the sand every day) I was into the watch thing for awhile bought the models I wanted . Then I bought some nice ones for my sons when they were born. When the little guys turn 13 I will let them start wearing them to select events if they are into watches at that time. If not I will keep them for myself.

If someone is going to give me a perk based on the watch I wear, hell yes I'll take it. Like it or not any time you enter a place of business you are being sized up to determine the level of service or care you will receive. Perks are good

How noble of you, I will gladly take your table when offered.

Swiss Made Rolex Replicas? lol, whatever.

Seeing as Rolex is a Swiss company with an HQ not too far from where I work, and how they enforce copyright laws, no company "in Switzerland" would be able to make "Rolex Replicas".

What you're saying here is "Chinese Made Rolex Replicas". Big difference buddy

I would never take a replica myself, that's just too cheesy.

This means a replica using a swiss-made movement (27 jewels or whatever) and high(er) quality materials than the typical Chinese knock-off.

that's assuming that they didn't fake the "Swiss-made" in addition to the "Rolex." And a "Swiss-made" watch means the bulk of the assembly needs to be done in Switzerland. "Swiss movement" only means the movement is sourced from Switzerland, and are typically great watches as well. I wouldn't buy a fake Rolex, then presume that anything else on the watch was legit.

Maybe maybe... I think Rolex builds ALL their watches here in Switzerland. No outsourcing. I could be wrong however...

But if it's not 100% Rolex, it's not a Rolex, and you can't just slap that tag on the watch, especially with a "Swiss made" tag, if the object wasn't assembled in the country mentioned (although I guess one could argue that if 50 or 60% was made in Switzerland, then it really is Swiss... after all, the raw materials probably come from elsewhere).

My friends who are big into watches always reccommend just getting a Swatch until you have the money for an Omega. Swatch makes the mechanisms for a whole bunch of fashion-designer watches as well as the mechanisms for other "real" watch makers.

As far as cache - while my one watch buddy has got some pretty nice watches, he's still most jealous of my '69 Seamaster (woot!).

Used object d'art bought with a good eye is usually wayyyy cooler than new stuff just bought b/c you've got the cash.
