system of a down vs Coldplay
i love them both as well. the ladies love coldplay as they have said, i'm thinking for the love songs. the songs are very nice to space out too. i think, though, if it wasn't for chris the lead singer they really wouldn't be anything.
system of a down blows me away more-so than coldplay. they are always morphing their style. all the musicians are great. i love how they throw in different time signatures and off beat stuff. i am a drummer so i love the way they mix the rhythms and beats up

As for personal opinion, they are both ok. I can't listen to SOAD for long periods of time (for obvious reasons) and Coldplay is just to predictable and "neutral" of a band for my tastes.
You're too much of a gay pussy to listen to SOAD...and too much of a snobby stuck-up prick to listen to coldplay???
JK...nobody really responded to IheartS2K's post...but I think he really hit the nail on its, proverbial, head. Obviously he isn't a huge fan of either, but he took an objective look at both and pointed out their respective strong suits.
As for my take on it:
System of a Down are, no doubt, talented...and play technically challenging music. It's nice to hear a couple songs from them once in a while, if you're in the right mood. But, as talented as they are...I find that genre of music a bit annoying after a while. I think too many people enjoy it for being fast and hard and nothing else. I'm not saying you can't like it for other reasons, and I'm sure many of you DO like it for said other reasons...but a lot of people like hard for hard's sake.
Coldplay aren't my favorite band either...and their lyrics can, at time, be pretty cheese-ball and overtly rhyming. Having said this, they can write a great hook and a soaring guitar line with the best of 'em. I can appreciate coldplay's music, 12 year-olds can appreciate coldplay's music, my mom can appreciate coldplay's music, hell...my grandmother could probably appreciate coldplay's music.
since this topic is "system of a down vs coldplay" I think it is my duty to choose a winner. If I had to say who is the better band, I would have to say.....THE SHINS!!!
Unless you are not musically inclined in any way, or have never heard these two bands, this is a pretty silly question. They both excell within their respective genres, but System of a Down's music is quite a bit more complex than Coldplay's... who's verse/chorus/verse template was created many, many years ago. In conclusion, go listen to Radiohead. Now.
i would personaly choose Coldplay,
but thats because i havent heard any of SOAD songs;
at least i probibly didnt know that i was listeneing to them when i was listen to them.
Does that make any sence at all?
anywho, could any of you SOAD lovers recomend a track or CD that is especially 'good'
thanks

The points I wanted to make have been made already.
They are way too far apart from one another to make any real comparisons.
SOAD has way more going for them IMHO because of the switchups they do. They have an edgeyness to them that is good to see. they have musical talent and a unique delivery. I classify them with Slipknot, Tool and other progressive hard rock. Not as marketable as Coldplay but successful nonetheless.

Both bands have some decent songs. I used to like SOD alot more until they turned their music into political expression. American-based bands who bad mouth their country
....espescially rag-heads like SOD.
