Maybe they thought it was like Disney Land. Everyday is Mickey's birthday there, and they thought this was just part of the show. Wife to husband: "They do SUCH a good job at making this look real, don't they?" I can see my parents doing this.

At least they're safe. That's the important thing.
Itweintz is right. You should always find out what's going on locally if you're going to travel that long.

This sounds like something my K-ex g/f would do.
